This is what you can expect when you choose to dive for the very first time.

The very first time

Many people choose to do a test dive in a pool before they commit to a dive certification course. This is a great way to get a feel for the equipment and basic techniques. Lotus Bungalows Candidasa has a purpose-built pool specifically for dive training and even offers a free trial dive with a PADI certified dive instructor.

When you do this trial you will get to feel what it’s like to have a regulator in your mouth above the water and then at the surface of the water. You may also learn to clear your mask and take the regulator in and out under water. These are the foundations of safe diving and every single diver must learn them.

If you enjoy the trial, you may choose to sign up for a 2-day PADI Discover Scuba Diving or even a PADI Scuba Diver course where you will start right at the start by going through breathing, swimming technique and safety. This is the beginning of a journey into a brand new world.

Diving in open water

Once you are comfortable in the pool, it’s time to move out into open water. This may seem like a scary step but you’ll soon see that the fear is overcome by wonder. Many first time divers describe their initial dive as a complete eye-opener. They say they imagine it’s what stepping on the surface of the moon must be like. To become part of the ocean and see seascapes for the first time is like discovering a new planet.

Of course there is part of you that may feel out of your comfort zone but that’s what PADI certified dive instructors are there for. You will learn safety procedures and techniques to ensure you are 100% ready for your first dive in open water. Your dive instructor will also be there with you every step of the way.

Making the decision to dive

Once you have made the decision to try diving all you need to do is book your trial. This can be done by phone or email to Lotus Bungalows Candidasa. You can even book a day pass for the hotel pool and do a trial while you are there for the day. If you choose to stay at the hotel you can book your trial at reception when you check in.

You won’t need to bring anything but your swimsuit and sunscreen. All equipment is provided by Gangga Divers Dive Centre at Lotus Bungalows. It really couldn’t be easier. If you are in Bali, you could make the decision today and be trying out diving tomorrow!
