Snorkel the Beautiful East Bali Coast
Bali is famed for its beautiful coastlines, sandy beaches, and clear water. But to really experience everything Bali has to offer you need to explore under the water as well. Diving is an option but if you prefer snorkeling, you will still get to see an amazingly abundant underwater world.
In many places around Candidasa and Padang Bai it’s easy to snorkel directly off the beach. The staff at Lotus Bungalows and Gangga Divers will be able to point you in the right direction and also rent you the gear you need. Just remember to always take a buddy when snorkeling. You can also choose to take a boat out to sites further out from the coast.
One favorite spot for snorkelers is Blue Lagoon in Padang Bai, just 30 minutes by car from Candidasa, beautiful corals sit on soft white sand. The clear blue water here is perfect for snorkeling in and underwater photographers will find plenty of subjects.
Teluk Jepun is another spot close by where snorkelers will find a wide array of reef fish. There are plenty of clown fish, sweetlips, glass fish, butterfly fish, and angelfish in this area and plenty more as well. As for bigger species, sea turtles and reef sharks are also often seen at both Blue Lagoon and Teluk Jepun.
Blue Lagoon and Teluk Jepun are usually stops on Gangga Diver’s full day charter and half-day snorkel trip in East Bali. If you choose a charter, your group of up to 8 people will enjoy sailing and snorkeling in the area, lunch, and a stop on a beautiful secluded beach. You can also opt for a half-day version of this tour from 9am until 2pm.
If you’re looking to go further off the coast, trips from Lotus Bungalows leave for Nusa Penida, Crystal Bay and Manta Point as well. Nusa Penida and Crystal Bay are famed for their sparkling clear water and towering cliffs. The views from the boat are almost as spectacular as what you will see under the waves. Snorkeling here you will find healthy hard and soft corals teeming with colourful reef fish and even a passing manta or mola-mola if you are lucky.
If snorkeling with manta rays is your main aim, Manta Point is a must. Manta rays are seen here all year round making it very popular with divers and snorkelers. A trip with Gangga Divers Candidasa to Manta Point takes only around 30 minutes so you have plenty of time to snorkel. Chartering a boat for the day with friends and family is the perfect way to make memories of an amazing experience together. You can also do this as part of joint trip with other snorkelers.
